Over $7,500 was raised on Sunday for the Bri Bri Foundation!!! As Brianna Blumenthal’s father Scotty and the whole OBX community seek to deal with the aftermath of her tragic death in a bike collision in a crosswalk on Thanksgiving week, there was a family friendly benefit here this Sunday from noon until 5 p.m. Five wonderful bands, including student musicians, played on stage throughout the afternoon. There was a photo booth, an extensive silent auction, helmet decorating as well as mural painting for the kids in the backyard. The mural created will be put on permanent display at Aviation Park behind the Rec Center. This benefit was for the kids, by the kids and all about the kids to help them heal, make sense of the senseless and turn tragedy towards something positive. The Bri Bri Foundation may be in its infancy, but just like Bri herself, it is sure to be a positive force to reckoned with!
Although some may find it strange to host a children’s event at a bar, those that know us understand that we are a bar during late night hours only; before that, we are a pub, which in the classic sense means “public house” and a focal point of many European communities. We are proud to be part of the Outer Banks Community, the “Go Local” movement, and love being able to host many community events. Bri was part of the Brewing Station family and spent many hours here with her friends playing outside, doing homework at the booths, and, of course, catching a bite to eat.
$2 for each adult drink sold and 20% all food sales will be donated to her Foundation.
Many, Many thanks to Lindsey Dianna with the Mustang Outreach, Ravann Rachell’e of the Dare County Arts Council, Sherri Buhrman for rocking the silent auction, and the hundreds (thousands!) of people here on the Outer Banks and beyond that have come together with thoughts, prayers, donations, helmets, etc. during this most difficult time.
